Rennie Walker
Rennie Walker is an expert in Taxonomy and Metadata Schema Design and Development with strong Product Management, Business Analysis, and Enterprise Search skills. He has worked in both large-scale/complex projects and start-up environments, from initial vision/strategy development through testing and business sign-off. Mr. Walker played a key role in the transformation of the business processes of an early-stage media company by introducing an automated semantic processes to replace a manual editorial processes. He has overseen the successful migration of legacy enterprise search applications between two vendor platforms, and has experience with the introduction and bringing to market of a new knowledge management product in the categorization space for an early-stage start-up.
Rennie is certified as a taxonomy developer by both Convera and InXight, and has designed and implemented taxonomies to improve search, content management and front end UX. A significant proportion of his recent work has been in implementing and optimizing enterprise search for corporate portals, with an emphasis on semantics (to improve relevance) and processing of taxonomy/metadata (to improve both relevance and ontologically-based presentations). Rennie is additionally focusing on the business-side implementation of Oracle PDQ to improve product data quality. This work utilizes business analysis, a methodology framework and taxonomy best practices to successfully improve control of structured and unstructured product terminology in Master Data Management implementations.
