Panel Session: Metadata, Enterprise Integration and Application of Standards (Internal and External)

Metadata is used for all aspects of content and digital asset management.  Most organizations consider standards as a starting point – if someone else has been down this path, then why can’t we reuse what they have created?  One would think that this approach should work for many applications – rights management, e commerce, asset reuse, etc.

At the same time, organizations of all sizes are trying to improve processes through integration initiatives. Everything from data quality, to business intelligence to business process management requires consistent terminology and harmonized metadata schemas.

What happens when these worlds collide?  How do best in class enterprises use internal standards and external standards to improve information findability and make that information actionable – whether through commerce transactions with customers, syndication with partners or asset repurposing and reuse?

The metadata taxonomy and search track will discuss these important issues and illustrate how organizations need to leverage standards or develop their own internal standards – when to look for external, industry wide approaches  and when to consider metadata standards a competitive advantage.

We’ll hear from practitioners and experts with a variety of use cases, user scenarios and perspectives so that you can go back to your organization with an approach to solving these challenging problems in asset management, monetization and integration
