Information Management Strategy and Architecture | The Ford Foundation

Challenge

The Ford Foundation needed a comprehensive knowledge, content and information management strategy.  Multiple systems, tools and processes had inconsistent metadata and needed a coherent integration approach.

Solution

Through a combination of working sessions, interviews and content audits, the Earley Information Science  team  developed a comprehensive information management strategy and roadmap.  A second phase of the project began the information architecture development process.  The EIS team created wireframes, content object models, workflow processes and security models.

Results

A detailed set of functional specifications were developed for SharePoint application development.  The documentation set provided extensive and detailed technical and functional specifications that allowed developers to build out the SharePoint environment.  An enterprise metadata standard and enterprise taxonomy was created in order to facilitate integration of siloed information sources. The organization was able to establish clear roles and responsibilities, guidelines, and policies to support enterprise information management governance.
